Terms & Conditions

The terms that apply to booking and participating in courses with Apnea Bali.

Last updated: 26 June 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the www.apneabali.com website and your participation in any course, coaching session or service provided by Apnea Bali ("we", "us"). By booking a course or otherwise engaging our services, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms.

1. About us

Apnea Bali is a freediving school based in Tulamben, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia. We offer freediving courses certified by AIDA International and Molchanovs Movement, freediving coaching, instructor-level training and related services.

2. Bookings & payment

  • Bookings are confirmed by email or WhatsApp once we have agreed dates and received any deposit required for your course.
  • Course prices, durations and inclusions are as communicated to you at the time of booking. The current course pages on this website are indicative; final terms are confirmed in writing.
  • Unless agreed otherwise, full payment is due on arrival, before the start of the first session, in cash (IDR or USD) or by bank transfer.

3. Cancellation & refund policy

  • By the student, more than 14 days before start date: any deposit paid is refundable, minus any bank-transfer fees we incurred.
  • By the student, 7–14 days before start date: 50% of the deposit is refundable.
  • By the student, less than 7 days before start date or no-show: deposit is non-refundable.
  • By Apnea Bali (illness, weather, force majeure): we will offer to reschedule at no extra cost, or refund any payment in full.

We aim to be flexible with rescheduling — if life or weather gets in the way, talk to us.

4. Medical fitness & safety

Freediving is a sport that places real physiological demand on the body. Before participating in any course or coaching session, you must:

  • Complete the medical-fitness declaration provided by the certifying agency (AIDA / Molchanovs).
  • Disclose any medical condition that may affect your ability to dive (in particular: heart conditions, asthma, sinus or ear issues, epilepsy, recent surgery, pregnancy).
  • Where the medical declaration indicates a risk, obtain written clearance from a doctor familiar with diving medicine before the course begins.

We reserve the right to refuse participation, suspend training or end a course early if, in the professional judgement of our instructors, your safety or the safety of others is at risk.

5. Acknowledgement of risk

Freediving involves inherent risks including (without limitation) loss of motor control, loss of consciousness, barotrauma, decompression-related injuries and drowning. We mitigate these risks through trained instructors, certified safety protocols, on-site oxygen and first-aid equipment, and conservative training progressions — but the risks cannot be eliminated entirely. By participating you acknowledge and accept these risks.

Each course requires you to sign a liability-waiver document approved by the relevant certifying agency before in-water training begins.

6. Insurance

We strongly recommend that you hold valid travel insurance that explicitly covers freediving (or "breath-hold diving" / "snorkelling and breath-hold activities") for the depths you will be diving. Some standard travel insurance policies exclude freediving — please check yours before arrival. Apnea Bali does not provide personal accident or medical-evacuation insurance to course participants.

7. Equipment

We provide all standard freediving equipment (mask, snorkel, bi-fins or monofin, weight belt, weights, lanyard, buoy) for use during the course. If you damage or lose rented equipment through negligence, you may be asked to contribute to replacement cost. You are welcome to bring and use your own equipment, subject to instructor approval on safety grounds.

8. Photography & video

We often photograph and video sessions for student feedback, course documentation, and occasional use on our website and social media. If you would prefer not to appear in any public-facing material, tell us at the start of the course and we will respect that. You retain the rights to any image taken of you personally; we ask only for permission to use them for marketing of the school.

9. Conduct

We expect students and visitors to behave respectfully toward instructors, other students, the local Tulamben community, and the marine environment. We reserve the right to end any course early, without refund, in cases of serious misconduct (including but not limited to: ignoring safety instructions, behaviour endangering others, harassment, drug or alcohol intoxication during sessions).

10. Certification

Successful completion of a course results in certification from the relevant agency (AIDA or Molchanovs). Certification is at the discretion of the instructor and depends on you meeting the documented performance and theory requirements of the course level. We will explain the requirements at the start of the course; failure to meet them may mean you receive a partial certification or are invited to repeat sessions.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apnea Bali's total liability for any claim arising from a course or service is limited to the amount you paid for that course or service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost travel, lost work, lost enjoyment) arising from changes to or cancellation of a course.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Website use

The content of www.apneabali.com is provided for information only and may be updated at any time. Course details, prices and schedules on the website are indicative; confirmed terms are those agreed with you in writing at the time of booking.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably between us shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Karangasem Regency, Bali.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the version in force on the date you confirmed the booking. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
